The Sicilian Tradition

Sicilian cooking is simple and flavorful – a blend of fresh ingredients easily gathered by the peasants and fishermen of Sicily. The recipes are influenced by the surrounding Mediterranean countries. The Sicilian dishes are more vibrant, generally a little sweeter, and not as complex as those of our northern brethren. Sicilian foods are flavored with the spices, meats, fruits, and vegetables of that region and those we borrowed from visitors and conquerors.
